Keelyn scribbled down a few more sentences on a letter to her grandparents and quickly sealed the envelope. She wanted to get this letter sent off a soon as possible. It had been almost a month since they'd heard from her and she'd knew by now they might be a bit worried. It's not that she had much to write home about though. Not much happened from day to day for Keelyn. It was same everyday. She woke up. Got breakfast. Went to classes. And of course studied.
Keelyn's studies were important to her. She found that there was so much out there to learn and it all fascinated her to no end. Keelyn wanted to be able to learn it all. But back to her letter. She tied it to one of the school owls and quickly sent it off. As it flew off into to the distance she sighed to herself.
Keelyn didn't feel the urge to rush back to her common room or the library for that matter. She was content just standing there. In the owlery of all places. She was surrounded by dozens of owls hooting away, but it was better than being surrounded by school full of students. At least owls didn't talk back to much. It was a bit to quiet for a her liking though. Kind of eerie. Not to mention it was quickly getting dark out.

Felix was in the shadows watching her send a letter. He had been sleeping up here. Since most of the Slytherins did not like him, he did not dare sleep in the Common Room. He kept to the shadows because he did not want Filch finding him while he slept either. A detention for being afraid of dying in the middle of sleep due to a Slytherin's well placed Killing Curse? Now that was a real laugh. However, Felix stayed silent as he watched her let the owl free. He wish he had a real family to send letters to, to tell that he was OK. But his father was a monster. He had run away at a little age because his father had been a Death Eater. What disgusted him the most was that, when he was a baby, he would've given anything to be like his father.
That's all in the past... Forget it. However, he could not. He hated his father. He was the one who killed his wife, Felix's mother, and now he was aiming to kill Felix because he did not want to follow Voldemort's ranks. Who would want to serve such a monster? He walked out and words left him before he could even think of what to say in actuality. Sometimes he was known for his quick mouth. "What is it like... to have a family that cares about you? I'd like to know," Felix said softly.

Keelyn nearly jumped out of skin when she heard a voice speaking softly behind. She hadn't realized anyone was in here with her and almost didn't catch what it was he had said. Keelyn turned around slowly to face the voice that speaking to her. Whoever it was, was in the shadows. She was a little unnerved about that, but at the same time didn't feel threatened.
The question came back to her. A family that cares about her. She hadn't really thought about it. Normally her thought's were about what she'd lost. Never about what she'd still had. Her grandparents cared immensely about her. Did this person honestly not know what that felt like. And to try to explain that in words...
"Can I at least know who I'm speaking to?" Keelyn spoke hesitantly, wondering who would be lurking in the shadows of the owlery and why.
It was just odd. It was curious she hadn't heard or seen them come up either. Her mind was just bubbling with questions, like any other Ravenclaw, but she refrained herself, and just stared inquisitively at the shadows.

Felix listened to her request. Thinking he had stepped out of the shadows and into clear view, he thought he had made himself perfectly visible. However, he knew that the Sun was setting and it might've cast enough shadows to hide him again. So he circled his way into a patch of light. Her head would turn to face him. An androgynous boy with Slytherin robes stepped out of the shadows. His hair was hiding one of his eyes. His visible eye showed none of the usual Slytherin emotions. Malice and hatred usually resided behind Slytherin eyes. However, Felix's eyes were filled, instead, with curiosity, sadness, and a little loneliness. He had never had a family. He had never considered his father or the women who used him sexually part of his family.
"... Please... I want to know... What it is I'm missing," Felix said. He had never known the love of a father. His mother had always been too busy for him. The only love he had ever known was the love of his friends and, yet, even with that, he felt like he was missing something important. He already knew what it was. He had no family. Even with friends, he felt truely alone in the world because his home was an orphanage. He had no mother or father to return to, to cuddle and hug and love. He had nothing but a teddy bear waiting for him in his bed. "I want to know... why I feel so alone... even when I have friends," Felix managed to say.

Keelyn saw the boy step into a small patch of sun. He was a Slytherin, but she didn't care. He didn't seem like normal Slytherins. He didn't have any malice in his eyes. No, instead he seemed sad and lonely. Keelyn looked back at him. She wondered what was going through his mind at that moment, but she didn't dare ask.
She heard him askw again, what he was missing. It was something Keelyn didn't know how to answer.
"I...well...", Keelyn stuttered then looked around as if the answer was somewhere in the owlery.
"Honestly, I don't know. It's not something, I've thought about. It's probably something I've taken for granted." She said said slowly dragging her eyes away from the owlery walls looking directly at Felix.
"I love my grandparents, but...it's not as simple as it sounds and well..." Keelyn said looking around frantically.
She wasn't used to opening up to people. It was difficult for her. Especially when people started asking about family she closed herself off. She looked helplessly at Felix. Not quite sure what to say.

Felix listened to her as she tried to explain. He could tell by her eyes that she was not used to speaking to other people, much less helping them. The presence of Felix and his wanting to know why he was so lonely had her under pressure. She wanted to help him, but yet she didn't know how. Lots of emotions would be running through her body as she fought to keep herself from making a fool out of herself. Felix knew the same feelings and he did not want this girl to feel them. It was with a heavy heart that he sighed and shook his head. "It's fine... I understand. You don't know either." That may not be the case, but I don't want to bother her with my presence. He sighed, then turned around. "Well... good day," he said softly and began to walk off.
(Omg, WB writing this.)

"Wait..." Keelyn called out quite unlike herself.
"Why were you sneaking around in the shadows like that? That's really creepy you know?" She said give him a small smile change the subject and still wondering what he was doing up there.
He was a Slytherin after all. But not like any other she had met before, and that in it's own right unnerved her just a bit. He could be a spy. Keelyn was far to rational for that though. He seemed genuine. But that still didn't answer why he was up here sneaking around in the first place watching her. Or who he was for the matter.
"And who are you," she added quickly trying not to make a bigger fool of herself. She bit her bottom lip unconsciously and looked around waiting for her answers.

Felix stopped at her bidding. The questions did not strike him surprised. On the contrary, he had been surprised she did not ask them first before trying to answer his question. Most people would've wanted their information before giving information, but she had done quite the opposite. She had proven herself... different. Felix sighed and smiled softly. "My name is Felix Falora, son of Izzac Falora, Death Eater... disowned after I ran away, sold on the streets as a slave for money, and now living in an orphanage somewhere in London." He did not care that he might've been giving away too much information at the moment. She wanted to know who he was and why he was inside the Owlry, so he would tell her.
"I am here in the Owlry because this is where I sleep. I blend in with the shadows so Filch doesn't find me. Seeing as I do not believe that Voldemort is the savior of all purebloods, seeing as I view him as a monster that needs to be put down, my housemates view me as if I were in Gryffindor. I have a few Slytherin friends, but most hate me. So I dare not sleep in the common room. I don't want to never wake up again. So here I am, in the Owlry, sleeping as if I were an owl myself."

Through his entire explanation Keelyn was just staring at Felix wide-eyed. She didn't mean to be rude, but she couldn't help but stare. Before he was just a nameless face to her. A random person who asked her a question. But now...he was someone she felt like she knew an incredible amount about, and yet he knew nothing about her.
Keelyn basically knew his life story. At least an outline of it. He wasn't just another Slytherin. Keelyn wasn't sure what to say to him after that. His life story was filled with so much sadness yet he told her about, and here she couldn't tell him anything about him anything her life.
"You are quite the walking contradiction Felix," she said smiling a bit at him.
"I'm Keelyn Hayes and I'm rather boring," Keelyn said.
"You know, have tried talking to someone in the ministry or one of the professors about your living situation here at school and at home. I mean they might be able to help," she said in a concerned voice and frowning a bit "I'm honestly not trying to but into your business or tell you what to do or anything like that I promise, it's just a suggestion."

Her wide eyes had been expected. Never before in his entire life had Felix mentioned to anyone that his father was a Death Eater, that he ran away from home due to said father being a Death Eater, that he was captured and sold as a sex slave on the streets, and now he was finally living in an orphanage full of people that didn't like him because he was a werewolf... even though he didn't mention he was a werewolf to her, so that didn't really count, but Felix did expect her to be very surprised. Walking contradiction? Felix supposed that was true too. Slytherins mainly kept to themselves. Felix saved girls that were in Hufflepuff house from Slytherin predators and then had an emotional breakdown in front of a Gryffindor prefect after drawing blood by accident.
"It's nice to meet you Keelyn," Felix said softly. Then she suggested talking to someone about the conditions he was facing at home and school because they might've been able to help him. "I've been dealing with this for four years now... I don't want to bother any of them. They have their own problems with all of this murder business. The poor first year Hufflepuff girl's death is leading to some serious investigations. They need to focus more on this, not on me," Felix said softly.

"How very...unselfish of you," she said slowly.
Keelyn slowly turned around and walked around the owlery pretending to inspect the walls sneaking glances back at Felix every now and then. He was quite a mystery. She wasn't sure what to say to him. Keelyn didn't him pity him like most people would. She knew more than anything people hated pity. No, she felt something else. It was almost as if she pain for him and what he had to go through.
Keelyn snuck another glance at Felix, then began petting one of the barn owls.
"Felix, why were you sorted into Slytherin? I mean why did the sorting hat think that Slytherin would be the best place for you. I can tell you're cunning, but you obviously don't fit in."
Keelyn turned around glancing back at Felix then laughed a bit.
"You know, I over analyze things way to much, have you noticed? Sometime I wish I didn't put so much thought into everything, and I could use my emotions more. Somehow I've learned to shut those out though."
Keelyn crossed her arms and gave a somewhat bitter smile and took a few steps towards Felix, "You know you wouldn't be a bother if you asked for help. Everyone could use some help once in a while," she said honestly going back to their earlier topic.
