"Lily and I go way back. We both grew up in the same muggle neighborhood. I moved to Lily's neighborhood after my parents passed away and moved in with my grandparents there, and that's when I met Lily. Though there was a bit of age difference, for some reason Lily and I were drawn to eachother. Of course I couldn't tell her about my magical background or about when I got my Hogwarts letter, but then I was more than a little surprised when she was accepted into Hogwarts two years later. It was absolutely exciting finally being able to talk to Lily about the magical world, and in a way it drew us closer. She was sorted into a different house than me, but we're still close friends."
