It was quite late at night when Matt stumbled out of the Hufflepuff common room and began to make his way to the north tower. As a Hufflepuff, he was used to being surrounded by friendly faces and fiercely loyal friends but sometimes it all got to be too much. He ran his hand over his face with a sigh. Sometimes it was just hard to think and Merlin knows Matt needed quite to think.
His feet began to take him to a place that always offered a great view around this time of year. The north tower had the best vies Hogwarts had to offer, to bad most never got past the dark corners. Matt visibly shuddered and hoped that he wouldn't stumble on any wayward couples who wanted to use the tower for alone time. Deciding to be safe, Matt knocked on the door frame before he entered the room. His eyes scanned the room but found nobody. This time when he sighed, it was a sigh of relief.
Just on the other side of the room was a balcony with a waist high stone wall. No windows were in the room because this was where many students came to study the stars. Matt had absolutely no intention of doing that. Bracing his hand on the wall, he jumped up and sat on it, his jean clad legs dangling over the edge. Surprisingly, the ledge was wide, about a foot or two and Matt had enough room to lean back on his palms.
His navy colored hoodie kept him warm from the chilled autumn breeze. It was nice being out here at night. A few clouds dotted the sky, but otherwise the stars were dominant.
Closing his eyes, Matt deeply inhaled just taking in the night air.

Bryana slammed the girls' bathroom door as hard as she could, and wiped the side of her cheek with the stretched sleeve of her sweater. Hot tears, dripped down on the side of her cheeks, also wetting her hair, that hung sloppily in the front of her face. She pulled her hair back, for the hundreth time today, so that her shoulders broke the flow towards her face. She was still in her school uniform, the oxford shirt, and the school girl skirt. Except for some malfunctions. Being, that she was so distraught at the moment, so was her "formal dress". Her shirt, was untucked in some parts and in others were. Her knee highs, one fallen, the other on it's way. One converse, was untied, and the other was tied perfectly. That, she would've had time to fix, but she didn't worry about her shoe at the moment.
She'd just found out through owl that her sister, was in affiliation with Death Eaters. Great, life couldn't get any better. And, on top of that, she'd gone missing, before she was even found out. So, Bryana felt so bad, because obviously her sister didn't care about her family, or how many lives she's been destroying. It was worst to have such news come through mail, having no one to run to in the time of need. She was in the dining hall when it came, and she hurried out of the hall, the moment she finished reading the awful letter.
She ran to the bathroom, seeking silent refuge, hoping no one would find her a very long time. And, it worked, because it was very late at night when she finally found the courage to come out of the bathroom stall. She didn't feel like going back to her common room just yet, not knowing how to directly face her worried friends. If she had those..
She climbed the stairs slowly, to the North Tower, a place known to be relaxing and private. Halfway up the steps, she burst out in tears again, urging herself to forget. When she finally reached the top, she hadn't bothered to even wipe her face, but then again she hadn't planned for anyone to be up there at this hour.
She pushed open the door that led to the outside, and instead of finding private refuge, she found someone sitting on the ledge. She covered her mouth, so as not to scream, and startle the guy, so that he wouldn't fall over the ledge. She waited until he turned his head and saw her then, she stuttered, "S-s-sorry. I d-didn't know..I." wiping the tears from the sides of cheeks, with her sleeve again.

Matt had just been in the middle of star gazing when he heard the door to the tower open. Looking back at who had entered, he saw a distraught blonde who he recognized from some of his classes. At first he thought about just letting her be but then he heard the sobs and saw the tears. She looked like she had been through hell and back, not that he would say that aloud.
"It's alright." Matt responded, his face solemn. For some reason he couldn't muster up even the smallest smile, he was too concerned for the blonde before him. He shifted his leg until one was propped up on the balcony wall, the other dangling over the edge. His elbows rested on his raised knee and he looked over to Bryana.
"Do you want to talk about what has you so upset? I'm willing to listen." This time he did manage a small half smile.

"Umm..okay." she spoke quietly, a little surprised that he didn't yell at her for disturbing him or something. It was fairly dark, and she didn't recognize him right away. Although, she could tell that he wasn't smiling. She was going to excuse herself from the room, and return to her dorm knowing that if she went anywhere else in the castle, she would've gone too far from her common room.
"What makes you so sure that there's something wrong?"she crossed her arms, after pulling up one of her socks. She felt another tear falling like eye vomit. She wiped her eye once more, finally saying, "Erm..I don't know. I don't know a lot about it..." she started. Bryana stood awkwardly on the other side of the room, debating herself on whether she wanted to talk about it or not. It was silent for a moment, while she searched her emotions.
"Ok.Thanks." she said, slowly gliding across the room, but giving a slight smile as well. She stopped next to the balcony, and took a deep breath, then breathed out again. "Ok, if I talk to you about this..you've got to promise not to say anything..to anyone. D-Do you?"

Matt was a little bit shocked when she acted so surprised at something he did or didn't do. He knew he wasn't exactly friendly looking with his muscular arms and even though his face was more often than not set in a non-chalant look, he was actually really nice and kind. Much more so than his image portrayed.
"You came in here sobbing and you look like a grim has been chasing you. If something is not wrong, then I am really behind style wise." He scoffed. This girl had just come running in here looking like she was trying to get away. Not that he would know, but normal people usually didn't look or act the way she was right now. He watched as she tried to pull herself together, her hands reaching down to fix her sock. A slight smile came to his face.
"So there is something wrong." He wanted so badly to say I thought so, but figured that doing so would ruin the headway he had made at getting this girl to open up. "You have my word. Whatever you say here stays here. I'll never tell another soul. You know what they say! What happens in the tower stays in the tower. Kinda like Vegas." He chuckled trying to get her to feel a little bit better.

"Thank you." she smiled, holding back laughter, because once she started, she didn't stop. "What an imagination!" she complimented. She found it very creative to look at a tall and empty tower room like Vegas. She began to feel like opening up her, somewhat secret feelings wasn't going to be so bad after all.
"Sorry, if it's a long story, and if you find it boring or something..you can cut me off and tell me." she wanted to say, but she hoped that he wasn't that type of person. From how the two already interacted, he didn't seem like that type of person. "So.. my Sister, Rayna. She and I never exactly got along like one would think sisters should. She.. she was just such a ruthless person, and I'm not into that. She was in Slytherin, but I know some Slytherin's that actually seemed.. Okay. But, Rayna, was just such a-" she stopped, looked at her wiggling shoe at the floor, then continued."A Bitch. So, when she graduated, I was bloody ecstatic! But, we never talked anymore. She moved out four days after she Graduated. She must've really not liked us that much. She kept in touch with my Uncle, a little bit, but he was in Slytherin, too. So she, 'respected' him. He would relay things back to my dad. I didn't really care."
Bryana folded her arms, and glanced up wards to see if the boy was still there. "So, I'm sitting in the Great Hall today, and I get a letter, explaining how..she went missing. I mean, I've always knew that she was doing Death Eater work, but I didn't want to get on her..worse side. You know?" she whispered Death Eater, although she almost sure there was no one else around.
"I just..she fell in right the wrong people. The very wrong people, and I'm starting to think, that maybe something bad happened to her." At first, Bryana just thought it was simply that went into hiding. But, the wizarding world was flaming with Death Eaters walking the streets, and Bryana just knew it wasn't it. "She's a horrible person, but she's my sister..and I never cared." she croaked, before two single tears fell out of her left again. She wiped them with the sleeve of her sweater again.
She took a deep breath and that's when she realized that she didn't know him. "I'm sorry, What's your name?" she asked him, politely. She smiled softly, sort of embarrassed that she didn't ask before she went of on her monologue.

"Well, what can I say. Sometimes a work of the imagination is better than what is real." Matt waved his hand around the tower pointing out cobwebs in the corners and the rough stone texture. It was easier for him to imagine the bright lights of Vegas over the tower's real image. He's just surprised he had never actually tried to put currency in the machines he imagined, they were that real to his mind's eye.
He listened to her ramble about how boring it might be and how he should cut her off should she bore him. "I won't cut you off. Something is bothering you and I think you'll feel better if you get it off of your chest." Matt settled in for the long haul, leaning his back against the stone wall nearest to him. His navy hoodie cushioned his back from the rough stone wall and he able to almost find some comfort in the position. If only his jeans were as cushioned.
The little blonde began to speak, her story long and filled with pain. Matt understood her situation. With this new dark lord rising, many people were joining up and/or disappearing. "I can't say that I know what you are going through because I don't. But what I can tell you is that it wasn't your fault. Your sister made the choice to join, not you. Sometimes fate leads us down a path where choices are really not an option." He tried to make clear what he was trying to say. That it wasn't her fault, that Rayna was just a victim of circumstance.
"I'm Matt Grayson." He laughed when he realized that he had never introduced himself. "And I'm sorry, I never asked your name, Miss?" He waited. He couldn't believe they were talking like they were and didn't even know each other's names.

"Bryana Spencer." she told him, with less perkiness in her voice than usual. It felt weird, not being happy, because she was normally the girl who smiled all the time. Yet, she was feeling much better, since Matt's pep talk.
"I think...you're right." she said. Sure, she was upset about her sister, but it was her decision. Obviously, the girl didn't care about Bryana. And, Bryana couldn't stop her. "I guess, I'm just really.."she paused, searching for a word that described her current state. It wasn't sad, she wasn't angry anymore. "shocked." she finished her sentence with slight uncertainty in her voice. "
It was difficult for Bryana, but she was slowly realizing that maybe she didn't have a sister that cared about her anymore. Or, if she ever did care about her. "My parents most likely won't tell me anymore than I already know." she predicted to herself from past events. Her parents were the overprotective type, that didn't let her know too much too often.
"Thank you for listening." she said to Matt, coming out of her thoughts. "Why are you up here so..late? Early? If you don't mind my asking.." she said, still unaware of what time it was.

"Well, it's nice to meet you Bryana, even if the circumstances are less than desirable." Matt said referring to the situation with her sister. And even though he wasn't exactly happy, he managed a small smile for the little blonde before him.
"You have every right to be shocked. This news you were just dealt would devastate anybody. No matter how someone you loved has acted in the past, you never expect them to turn their backs and join He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named." Matt admitted. It had happened in the past and it would no doubt happen again in the future. "And if you want to know, demand that your parents tell you what is going on. Threaten to leave if you have to. I bet they wouldn't want to lose another daughter because they were reluctant to open up about the situation." Matt mused.
"I'll listen anytime you need to talk. My ear is always here." He laughed at the rhyme of his sentence. "I always come up here to think about stuff. It gets hard you know, always being the cheerful Hufflepuff. Sometimes, I come up here and i just let loose all the things i have to keep bottled up during the day." He turned his head to look at the scenery outside of the window. It was a beautiful night.

((OOC: Sorry, it's so late..and small. I'm trying to reply to everything..))
"Thanks. I really appreiciate that." Bryana said. Hopefully, she wouldn't need a shoulder to cry on too often. But until then, it was nice to have someone there. She was thankful that that person was Matt, because he gave really good advice. "And, I think I might just do that. I'm almost sure that that will get them talking." she laughed.
"Wait..what?" she turned to him, "Are you saying, that you're not cheerful?" she joked. She knew what it was like to have to live up to house stereotypes. Then, it would seem like you didn't fit in with your house, and that wasn't a reputation that one would want to uphold on the Hogwarts Campus. "I mean, I've only known you for a few minutes, but it's not like you're..evil."
