"Are you sure you don't want any food master James?"
For the fifth time in the last two minutes, James declined a house elf eager to make sure he didn't go hungry for a second, shaking his head as much in amusement as an answer. The elf scurried off, continuing the preparations for breakfast. It was not normal for James to be up before breakfast had begun, but pranks called for special measures.
So here he sat, yawning nonstop, waiting for Sirius to make his way to the kitchens. It was still quite early, so they should have plenty of time to "improve" the pudding before it made its way to the tables in the Great Hall. Maybe not though, he thought, watching house elves scurrying this way and that, intent on their work. James was fond of house elves, his family had had one as long as he could remember. Finally he heard the door open behind him and without turning to look at the person who'd entered said, "What color should their hair turn do you think? I was going to go with green, but that seems so.....Slytherin."

I was thinking pink or purple would be better. It would make them look more like the girls they actually are... Sirius said walking into the kitchens. He had dressed within moments to meet James down here. Nothing to stop some good ol' fun.
Sirius' hair was in his eyes as usual, but he didn't care. Having it there for so long made it seem as if it wasn't there. He was just used to it.
Sirius was asked by some house elf if he wanted anything to eat. Might as well make them do something for him while he was here, considering he was already hungry. Might as well. Fix me up some pancakes. Sirius chuckled as it scurried away to get his pancakes ready for him. Sirius really didn't like house elves, and the reason was stupid little creature. James chuckled as the house elf ran off to fetch Sirius some pancakes, before turning to his best friend. "Pink and purple stripes it is then," he replied, and produced a variety of small bottles from his pocket. He set them down on the table in front of them and combed through them for the right ones. "Here we go, purple and pink," he picked up the bottle and read from the label, mock seriously,"Zonko's very best magical food dye, changes the diner, not the food!"
He looked around the room, failing to remember the names of any of the elves. "Oi! Um, house elves! Which food is going to the Slytherin tables?" While the elves scurried to show him the table he turned back to Sirius, "Any trouble getting here?"

Sirius sat down next to James, and put his feet up on the edge of the table. He couldn't put them fully up on the table thanks to the fact they were covered in dishes and pots and pans and whatever else there was. Then he took a deep yawn. After staying up most the night, he was kind of tired. Alright, Sirius said when James said pink and purple stripes it was. He watched him take out some bottles from his pockets, and listened to him talk, chuckling a bit. We should get a laugh out of this. Sirius watched the house elf run off to find the Slytherin table. It was so easy pranking them when it came to their food because the house elves just did whatever they were asked. The only trouble was getting down here without getting caught. Nah, no one's really up yet. Sirius said talking another yawn, yet smaller this time.[/blockquote]

James shook his head, pretending dissapointment, "Tsk, those lazy prefects. Preferring sleep to patrolling." James his chair away from the table and followed the house elves to the Slytherins' food, inspecting it carefully. He scratched his chin, which was growing some slight stubble, it itched. "What do you think, get it done right away with an early course, or wait until they're on the desert? Then again, we could just dump it in everything," James paused, holding the bottles up to the light, "I might have enough." Waiting to hear the other boys thoughts he held the bottles out to Sirius as reverently as if he were holding the Elder Wand. "Padfoot, would you like to do the honors?"

Sirius watched James get up and walk over to the Slytherin table. Once James began to talk, Sirius got up and went over and joined James. He wasn't sure what to do. First things would be alright, but not everyone ate the dessert. Everything. Sirius said. That way they could get everyone, no matter what they chose to eat. Why thank you, Prongs, Sirius said in a mock giddy voice, much like Wormtail's. This caused him to chuckle a bit as he walked down the table pouring some of the dye on everything he could. Luckily, the bottle seemed as if never ending - though both boys knew that wasn't ture, and he was able to dose everything in the dye.[/blockquote]

"Lucky, that," said James, watching Sirius finish pouring the dye into the last couple items. "I wonder if anyone will keep eating, once their friends start getting makeovers?" He considered it, then shrugged, "Probably not, ah well, hopefully Snivellus will be one of the first at the table." He gave Sirius a wicked grin. If there was one thing better than pulling pranks, it was pulling pranks on Slytherins. And if there was one thing better than that, it was pulling them on Severus Snape. He was so in love with the Dark Arts James couldn't help but despise him on principle alone, then there was the way he followed Lily around. Shaking himself out of his reverie James turned to Sirius, "I think we're done here, shall we go up to breakfast and watch our work pay off?" While he was waiting for his friend to answer he scooped up his remaining dye bottles, he was sure they'd come in handy in the future.

Sirius nodded and tossed James the bottles as he bagan to walk back. You know, I wouldn't be surprised if all or most of the Slytherins had pink and purple striped hair by the time classes begin. They're stupid enough to not think it was the food. Just the, Sirius was brought his pancakes. The practically ate it all in one bite. Oh, I'm sorry, did you want any? Sirius asked James chuckling a bit when he had only one left. And yeah. Hopefully Snivellus gets it. He'd be the best. especially since all the grease in his hair will show up more in the lighter pink, and it's longish so it'll be better than a lot of the others. Sirius said, placing his plate onto the nearest table - which just so happened to be the Slytherin's. Yeah, I think we've pretty much finished here. We should go and watch the results. Sirius said, as he watched James pick up the remaining bottles.[/blockqoute]

James caught the bottles deftly and added them to his pile, there was still a little left, but he doubted it would be useful. Tossing it all together into his bag he watched Sirius wolf down his pancakes and laughed at his friend's appetite. "Padfoot indeed," he said, "Did you forget we're on the way to breakfast?" He waved off the offer, "No worries, I'll take mine in the hall. At least I won't have to worry about my food," he said grinning.
With his friend behind him, James opened the portrait hole and stuck his head out, peering each way down the hall. "Coast is clear," he said, ducking back in. "It's late enough nobody would stop us, but I still don't want to be seen leaving the kitchens." As an afterthough he waved his wand at an apple, caught it, and took a bite. "Let's go," he said around the mouthful. He pushed the portrait open all the way and stepped out, waving his hand in goodbye to the house elves. He doubted any would be unpreoccupied enough to notice.
