Outside the sun was shining, the temperature was well in the 80's and students were frolicking on the lawns or lounging by the lake. But Carson was stuck inside. "The one time I try to pull a prank and I get caught." She muttered, still angry with herself for getting into trouble. Her eyes glanced to the window in longing, her hands stilled mid dusting motion despite the fact that the armor had to be clean before she or her fellow captive could leave. The heat in the room was stifling and, while Cari loved the heat, it was just way too hot to work in comfort.
Dropping the dirt stained cloth the the ground, she walked over to her bag and pulled out a somewhat thick book. She then moved to the window where, with great care Cari lifted the window until she could prop it open with her Herbology text book. At least it would be put to use this way. The light breeze that resulted made the heat more bearable. Turning away from the sight of freedom outside, Cari glanced around the room taking in the various armaments and protective wear that once great wizards and witches had worn into battle. Some of the weapons and suits of armor were stored away in cases coated with dust while others were left in the open as if begging to be used.
Her eyes continued to roam around the room. Now Cari had never been a mischievous child but one of the plain swords on the wall was begging to be played with. The metal glinted in the sunlight, almost as if it were winking at her and saying, "Come get me." She shook her head. I won't touch it. I will clean and get out of here. Her mind spoke but her body disobeyed. Across the room in a few steps, Cari had the sword in her hands before she could blink. Maybe I'll play with it for just a moment. She became lost in her imagination, a pirate of the Caribbean facing the Spanish Main. The moves she made were less than graceful, but then again who was around to witness the Ravenclaw's tumble into a realm of her own. In all of her fun, she forgot about the other captive that was to be cleaning the armor gallery with her.

Keelyn sighed as she was walking towards detention. It was an absolutely amazing day outside and here she was about to be stuck with someone she probably couldn't stand in the armory doing detention all day. Keelyn's detention was for dumbest thing too. She had a problem getting to a lot of classes on time. Sometimes she just got so preoccupied in her thoughts and studies class was the last thing on her mind. Her teachers finally took notice and thought detention was the best answer.
Slowing down a bit Keelyn walked into the armory. She wasn't sure if the other person was there yet, and didn't want to catch them off guard. What she saw almost made her double over in laughter though. It seemed like her detention would be with her friend and house mate Carson Hale, but apparently she'd already gotten quite busy. Keelyn snuck quietly in the room, not wanting to disturb Cari and all her fun.
She sat down on one of the window ledges with a huge smile on her face trying not to laugh. There was Cari, sword in hand, fighting an invisible opponent. She looked like she was in her own made up world.
"Hmmm," Keelyn said quietly to herself eyeing another sword on the wall.
Detention could after all wait. Plus it's not like there was sign that said "Do not play with." Smiling slightly Keelyn made her way over to the second sword and picked it up. Glancing at Cari with a smirk she walked up behind her and cleared her throat quite loudly.
"Having fun?"

The battle in her imagination was intense. Opponents came at her from the left and right, but she took them all! Strike, block, roundhouse kick. They were going down! She was in such a trance that she didn't even notice the door to the armory open or the person who now occupied the room with her. "Take that you scurvy knave-!" She half yelled spinning around to face another invisible attacker. Instead of a rogue pirate, Cari was met with the sight of Keeyln, her house mate and friend.
The sudden appearance of the seventh year startled Cari so much that the sword flew from her hands to land on the ground with an awful clang. Her hands shot to her ears to protect them from the sound. It wasn't a planned reaction, but her sensitivity to loud noises caused her to react on instinct. When she felt that the clang had passed, she removed her hands from her ears and looked at Keeyln who was holding a sword much like the one she had just dropped. "What are you doing here?" Cari asked out of curiosity but immediately started shaking her head. "Never mind, I think I know. Detention right? Me too." She shrugged. As a second thought Cari walked over and picked up the fallen sword. OK so it hadn't technically fallen, sue her.
"Well, as you can see I was..umm.. swinging the sword around to rid it of dust." Her eyes were looking to the ceiling while she tried to make up an excuse for her odd behavior. Suddenly, she remembered who she was talking to and laughed. "OK, so I was battling some imaginary foes. Pirates to be exact. They were attempting to overrun my ship and take it for theirs. I was actually holding up quite well." She smirked. Of course she had been doing well, it was her imagination- she could make anything happen.
A playful glint entered Cari's eyes. With a graceful movement, she moved into a defensive stance. "Are you here to try to take my ship as well? Bring it on."

Sirius had gotten detention without James, as he and a Ravenclaw had been caught up in a prank, and were both sent to clean the armor room. He didn't mind too much, actually he did. He didn't want to be stuck in here. However, she was cute.
He left the Gryffindor common room and walked down the halls to get to the armor room. He walked in, and noticed not only Carson, but an older Ravenclaw was there too. Alright, well I know what carson and I are here for. But what are you here for? Sirius asked, walking in and noticing that a sword lay on the ground at Carson's feet, and she was standing there in a defensive stance. [/blockquote]

Keelyn was about to answer Cari and begin their duel when a voice spoke behind her. She nearly jumped out of her skin not expecting someone else to be here, and now suddenly having to explain herself to him.
"Tardy a few times to class...well more than a few actually," Keelyn said slowly with a thoughtful look on her face..
She could tell by his robes he was a Gryffindor, but that was about all she knew about him.
"Why are you two here?" she asking looking back and forth between Carson and the Gryffindor boy.

The sudden appearance of Sirius caused Carson to jump and almost drop the sword. again. For a moment she had forgotten that she wouldn't be alone in detention. She stood straight from her startled defensive position and tried to look calm and collected. While Keelyn was explaining her reasons for being in detention, Cari had to fight back her laughter. After years of knowing Keelyn, Cari was used to her sometimes tardiness and had grown to expect it. If there was one way in which the two girls were similar it was how often they got lost in their thoughts.
"Detention... Duh!" Cari laughed. Her eyes were watering ever so slightly with the force of her giggles. It was rare that she got to say duh to a Ravenclaw, let alone her friend. "I was caught tampering with another student's potion. Snape was bragging about his was perfect and mine wasn't. Well I decided that he could use a little color. I was caught just as I was slipping some exploding color pellets into his cauldron. Sucked to cause in order to get close to his cauldron I had to play nice. Ugh!" She shivered. If there was anything that could make her skin crawl it was being nice to Snape. Ever since the incident she had gone through four bottles of mouthwash, the words still tainting her tongue with a bad taste.
"I hate cleaning." She suddenly mumbled, her eyes looking to the sword she had just dubbed as hers. Already she was missing the imaginary world she had been planning to conquer as soon as she had regained control of her ship. Now she would never be the Queen of the World. "I think Filch just makes people with detention clean because he is too lazy to." She muttered.

Keelyn nearly burst out laughing when she heard what happened to Snape. Of course she felt a little sorry for him. Just a little, but Snape wasn't the nicest person. To anyone.
"Cari that's horrible!" she said trying hard to hide her smile.
"I mean I'm sure he just wants to have friends, or something," Keelyn said trying to sound logical and convince herself at the same time.
"But I'll bet that was amusing to watch. Plus you getting all cuddly with Snape. That had to be sight," she said finally laughing.
She wondered what part the Gryffindor boy played in this. Glancing around Keelyn sighed. She noticed Cari muttering to herself about cleaning and eyeing 'her sword' longingly. Detention really did suck. She didn't want clean this armory. Agreeing with Cari seemed to be thinking, fighting of villians all day sounded much more fun.

Sirius just ignored the two girls. He figured that detention would be fine, until he saw that him and Carson would be the only ones there. Now it seemed like it was going to drag on forever because some other, older Ravenclaw was here. The two girls would chat the whole time, or at least it seemed that way. And if there was something he really oculd not stand about girls was how they were when theynwere with other girls - nonstop talking and everything. Sirius hated it, really.
I supplied Carson. Sirius said, kind of bothered by they're whole chatting thing. He was going to kill himself if they didn't stop. He needed another guy in here or something if he felt like living. Sirius had supplied Carson with the exploding colour pellets before class had started, because he knew that she had potions with Snape, and had told her to put the pellets in anyway. However, he didn't think she actually would. And he had gotten caught by a Slytherin, who must've told the professor or something. [/blockquote]

Keelyn looked at the Gryffindor boy. He was looking absolutely bored out of his mind. She couldn't blame him though. Sometimes when her and Cari got talking they never stopped. She looked around feeling the awkwardness in the room. Keelyn hated awkward silences more than anything. She looked over at the boy still not quite sure who he was. He was making her a bit nervous though. He was practically silent right now, compared to Cari and herself. Not they were giving him much room to talk. She felt a bit guilty.
"I'm Keelyn. Keelyn Hayes by the way. Now I know who you are Cari, but who are you?" Keelyn asked looking over at him smiling trying to be polite.

Cari turned to look at Sirius when he spoke. She felt really bad for not involving him more in the conversation. "I never did say thank you for those, did I?" She asked referring to the color pellets. The plan to give Snape some color had gone off flawlessly until some blubbering student in the front row had exploded their potion giving them wicked bad boils. The professor had turned to see what was the commotion just in time to see Cari slipping the pellets into Snape's potion.
"It's a shame the plan didn't work. Snape would have looked so wonderful in fluorescent pink." Her words were heavy with sarcasm. The sword in her hand was starting to tire her arm so she placed it back on the wall where she had found it.
"I really don't want to clean. What do you say we perform a quick scourgify and slack off for the rest of the detention?" The quirky blonde suggested, her blue eyes hinting at mischief.
