Angelique stood by the display as the clerk went to wrap up the coveted broom, and smirked a bit as others came to watch as well. However, most of those who were watching were alot younger than her, so she didn't really have any pleasure from it.
However, there was a boy that was about her age watching as well, with another broom in his hand. Was he getting that one? Well, it wasn't her business, now was it? Once her broom was wrapped, turned away from the display and made her way towards the broom care section, thinking about what she should get for her new broom. Maybe that broom polish over there? Nah, it didn't look like it was good quality... maybe that one over there? Nodding, she selected a bucket of the broom polish as well as a broom mantainence kit.
Now, after selecting her items, she made her way over to where the quidditch equipment was. What she had been looking forward to for the whole trip was finally getting a set of custom fitted equipment. She began feeling through the fabrics for the one that would suit her best, and selecting the style and thickness of the equipment. to her, this was pure heavenly bliss.

James stood inside the quidditch store, easily one of his favorite places in the world, and gazed admiringly at the newest broom model. He reached out and lifted it up in his hands, feeling the balance and testing the weight of the broom. He wasn't here to buy a new broom, he was very content with his own Nimbus, and wouldn't have traded it in even for a better model, but he did enjoy browsing.
Before he put the broom back he noticed a girl having a broom wrapped up by the clerk. He didn't recognize her from Hogwarts, but that only meant she wasn't a Gryffindor. He wondered what kind of broom she was buying, such information could be useful if she played for an opposing quidditch team. When he saw her move over to the quidditch equipment his suspicions seemed correct, and he decided to talk to her. He needed new gloves anyway, the fingertips on his were worn straight through.
Trying to appear as interested in the new beaters bats on the wall as possible, James moved over next to the girl, who was now testing different materials out. After he tried on a couple of different gloves he turned to her and smiled, "New broom?"

Angelique had selected the most expensive, and best, material for her equipment, dragons hide. It would be perfect, and she would have so much fun. Now, choosing some other things, she started when she heard a voice from behind her. Turning around, unsure of what to expect, she came face to face with a boy.
"Oui.. oh, errr... yes." she said. Her answer had come out in french at first, until she realized what she had been doing. Then, reluctantly, she had changed it to english. "Sorry, I just moved to here from Paris?" she added, shrugging her slender shoulders. The boy, however, looked to be about her age, which meant he probably went to the British school, named Hogwarts or something.
She wasn't pleased about the fact that she had to go to a British school after four years at a french one. Did her parents actually expect her to change that quickly? If so, they didn't know her that well, not at all. Turning back to the boy, she glanced at him quickly before asking "Are you getting a broom too?"

James' brows knit together when he heard her answer begin in French, was she foreign? He didn't speak any other languages, why was she in Diagon Alley? As more of her answer unraveled, he understood. That explained why he didn't recognize her. He smiled hoping to seem welcoming, "No need to apologize, I'm sure the transitions rough, are you changing schools too?"
He turned his eyes back to the shelves and shook his head slightly as if only just realising she'd asked him a question, "No I'm quite happy with my own, just browsing mostly, though I could use some new gloves." Just as he spoke the words he found a pair he liked, with enough texture to get a good grip on the quaffle. Turning back to the girl he said, "That's a very nice one you just got though." "Do you play," he added, "Quidditch, I mean?"

Angelique turned back to the form, quickly filling out the rest of hte information needed, along with her address and name. After signing it with her name, she picked up the piece of parchment and looked back at the other boy. "Well, my parent's believe that it will be better for me?" she said, shrugging her slender shoulders. "After all, isn't it the best school for magic?" she asked sarcasticaly.
She didn't mean to sound rude, but she was still bitter about hte fact that she had to move away from all her friends and the only school that she had ever known, just on her parent's little whim. She watched as he picked up a pair of quidditch gloves as well, and gave him a quick smile. "Thank you, my parents said I could get a new set," she said, shrugging.
It was probably their idea of bribing their daughter to go to a new school, but whatever. As of a week ago, she was officially going to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Realizing that she had zoned out again, she turned back to the boy just in time to catch his question. "Yes, I do play quidditch," she said, giving him a smile. "I guess you play too?" she asked, tilting her head to the side.

The sarcastic way she talked about Hogwarts wasn't lost on James. Initially he bristled at the way she dismissed it, and he let it show in his tone, "Yes, it is the best school for magic." Then that pesty little voice inside him made him feel slightly more sympathetic for the girl. "Sorry," he relented, "I bet you feel the same way about your old school." He paused, then added, "But don't dismiss Hogwarts too early, I bet you'll end up having lots of fun."
He honestly hoped the girl would brighten her hopes for Hogwarts. He hated when people wouldn't allow themselves to enjoy something. Some things, or people, just needed to be given a chance. If she liked quidditch, he thought, she should like Hogwarts, its games were some of the fiercest he'd ever seen. After he heard her question he laughed inwardly, it was rare these days anyone he talked to didn't know if he played quidditch. "You bet," he said, running a hand through his hair, "You're looking at Gryffindor's very best chaser."

Angelique realized that she had been sounding quite bitchy about the school that this boy obviously attended. Shrugging it off for now, however, she said "It's ok." She wasn't sure what to say during the few moments that followed, however, and was thankful when the other boy finally said something.
Angelique tilted her head to the side. "Really?" she asked, with a smile. "I'm a seeker." she said, shrugging it off. However, one thing irked her, and that was she didn't know what gryffindor was. Deciding to guess, Angelique asked "Gryffindor is a house, right?" She wasn't sure, but what she did know was that she had been sorted into Slytherin.

"Ah, seeker," James said, "Very important position." He sometimes felt a little jealous of seekers to be honest, they recieved a lot of attention for doing very little most of the game. He'd wanted to be one originally when he arrived at Hogwarts, but the team had already had one and he got to play earlier as a chaser. Eventually he fell in love with the position. His personal goal was still to win a game where the other team's seeker caught the snitch.
"Right," he said, "Sorry." It was odd talking to someone who didn't know some of the things he took for granted as everyone knowing. "Did your old school have houses? I guess you'll have to be sorted again when we get to Hogwarts." If the girl was any good at quidditch, he hoped she'd be sorted into Gryffindor.

Angelique nodded at his question. "Yeah, we had Papillonlisse, Ombrelune or Bellefeuille." she said, shrugging. Three houses were more that sufficent to house all of the students that went to Beauxbatons. Curiosity overtook her just then, and tilting her head to the side, she asked "What house are you in?" She didn't know the difference between the houses just yet, but it was about time she learned a bit.

James raised his eyebrows as the girl listed three houses, none of which sounded remotely like words to him. When she asked about him he relaxed a bit, houses at Hogwarts was something he knew a good deal about, more than houses in France anyway. Grinning, he replied, "Only the best, of course. Gryffindor." Gryffindors saw this as true, Slytherins saw it as blasphemy, everyone else saw it as arrogance. James didn't care, because he was a Gryffindor, and thus, saw it as true.
