[/b] ngelique was outside, on school grounds. She had her wand out, and had her eyes shut, and was thinking as hard as possible. All of a sudden, she shouted "Expecto Patronum!", her eyes flashing open. For a second, she thought it had worked, but it then disappeared in a second. Seething, Angelique sat down on a log. She had been trying to produce a patronus for ages now, for her own protection, as well as for the fun of it. Pushing her hair back, she opened up her water bottle and took a sip. S[/b] he had been concentrating on the moment that she had first learned how to fly, but apparently that hadn't been enough. Putting the water bottle back down, she looked around the secluded glade that she had found ages ago. That memory was suppose to work, it had to, but it turned out that it wasn't strong enough. What a joke, it was one of the happiest times in her life... that's when it hit her. S[/b] miling, she stood up again and closed her eyes to concentrate. After a few seconds, she yelled "Expecto Patronum!" This time, a silvery substance burst from her wand and kept building. It took her a few seconds to figure out what animal it was, but when she saw it, she smiled, the frowned in quick succession. A phoenix? Well, it was pretty at least, she thought to herself.S[/b] itting down on the log again, she leaned against another tree and closed her eyes, listening to the sounds of the night. It was really quite peaceful in here, and she wasn’t quite sure why they weren’t allowed in here. All of a sudden, she heard a shout coming from a distance. Her eyes flew open, and her hand instinctively grabbed her wand, pointing it in the direction the sound had come from. Hearing it again, she realized that it was coming from quite far away, and a green light had shone that time.N[/b] ot sure what was going on, she decided to go investigate, holding out her wand in front of her. Carefully making her way through the dense forest, she soon arrived at a small clearing, where another girl was standing.D[/b] eciding to introduce herself to the girl, she stepped out from the dark woods, and said, ”Hey.” She wasn’t sure what the other girl’s reaction would be, so she kept her wand at the ready. Somewhere behind her, several silvery wisps of light were silently penetrating the otherwise consistent darkness of the forest. Normally, Mairead was well aware of her surroundings and would have noticed the sudden bursts of light. But, she, too, had heard someone shout and her eyes were straining against the darkness in the opposite direction, watching for anymore green flashes.
It had been almost two minutes since the last flash and, since then, the forest had grown still and quiet. But it wasn't a typical quiet forest at night. There were no sounds whatsoever. No bugs were chirping. There were no owls calling in the night. Even the whispered fluttering of hunting bats were suspiciously absent. There was nothing; the forest had fallen dead quiet.
It was a bit too much like those scenes in the horror movies she'd sneak into with Tito. The scenes during which the audience, who was sitting in the safety of the theater seats, were all questioning why a young girl would be so stupid and walk through the dark forest alone when there were, clearly, zombies in the movie. But, this wasn't a movie, she kept reminding herself. It was a completely different situation.
That was all simply paranoia. Her mind was playing tricks on her. Mairead took a slow, quiet step towards where the green light had flashed. She was fully expecting to hear the yells again and see another flash when a different voice called from behind.
With a yelp, Mairead jumped and turned towards the voice, reflexively reaching on the ground for anything that might, remotely be used in defense. In the breadth of a moment, though, Mairead was able to recognize the other as a fellow student, one within her own year, in fact. She looked from the other girl's drawn wand to the dead stick she'd grabbed and tossed the stick aside with a snort of a laugh. "I think ye'd win," she said. "I didn't know anyone else was out here." She glanced back over her shoulder off into the darkness. She wouldn't have admitted it, but she was glad she wasn't alone. She'd been in the forest several times before but this was the first she remembered feeling uneasy.

Myseri hadn't seen the problem with wandering the woods. They seemed peaceful enough. Besides, she could handle herself, right? The worst that was in here was the possible werewolf and even those were friendly at times. You would never expect for such different creatures to have such a close bound. Yet, they were both "freaks," even in the wizarding world.
Soft foot steps ran around her. "Unicorn, centaur, hippo.." she trailed off in a moment of thought, "hippogriff." She hadn't expected something like that to be in these woods. Especially as allegedly "dangerous" as they were. Her feet kept leading her deeper, but her mind was memorizing the way out. Myseri wasn't about to get lost in these woods. She was more experienced and mature than this.
Out of sheer boredom, she began firing off spells. Sure, it wasn't the brightest idea, but it wasn't like anyone else was in here to get hurt right? After about the second random spell, she noticed the bright green bolts of light. "Well that's nothing good." She mumbled, slightly uneasy. Backing stepping and keeping a metaphorical ear to the ground, she listened for voices, any voices to match with the light.
Wandering towards a clearing with young girls' voices, she could sense a bit of fear in the Hufflepuff. It wasn't hard to tell that she was. The school was right about distinctive houses. "Expecto patronum!" she yelled and out of her wand flew a great winged serpent. Light was the best thing when in fear, that was for sure. She kept her childhood memory of her eleventh birthday in her head. Trying to keep concentration, "did anyone else happen to see that green spell?" she mumbled. She was truly hoping nothing had wandered its way here. She was also hoping it wasn't what she thought it was.

[/b] ngelique glanced around herself at her surroundings uneasily. Honestly, what had she been thinking, heading deeper into the forbidden forest like this? Couldn’t she have just stayed put at the edge of the forest, where it was much safer? Then again, it wasn’t in Angelique’s nature to pass over things just like that. She was the type to go and explore, even if it meant putting herself in danger. Sure, it wasn’t practical, but hey, you only lived once, right? You might as well make the best of it. That was basically Angelique’s philosophy. Sure, her father was a right ass most if not all of the time, and she was completely and utterly friendless in a brand new school, a school that she had been forced to attend at her father’s whim. It didn’t mean that Angelique was happy about the whole situation, she was far from happy. But it certainly wouldn’t stop her from making everybody’s life hell, even if it meant that she was the only person that would be vaguely happy.S[/b] eeing no other person nearby, Angelique finally felt safe enough to venture out from between the trees into the clearing. However, the girl in front of her had obviously been startled by Angelique’s voice. Angelique watched as the girl jumped about a mile into the air before whirling around to face Angelique... with a wooden stick in her hand. Of all the things that she could have chosen, she had picked up a wooden stick. Even a pebble or a rock would have been better, she would have been able to chuck it at the very least, but a wooden stick? Raising an eyebrow, Angelique said ”Yeah, I think I might just win this fight.” she said, letting a small smile creep onto her face. Now that she had found another person in the forest, she felt a bit safer. From what she could see so far, this girl was reasonably nice, and not completely psycho like a few of the slytherins were. H[/b] owever. Even though she was feeling a tad bit safer, it didn’t mean she was completely comfortable in her surroundings. Evidently, Angelique kept her wand out, although she did lower it a bit. Stepping forward, Angelique winced as she was met with an assortment of sounds, twigs cracking, leaves crunching, pieces of gravel rubbing against one another. It sounded like a gunshot in the quiet forest, something that Angelique was not pleased to realize. Hesitating, Angelique paused where she was, considering the implications of her moving from where she was. However, before she could come to a reasonable conclusion, a bright white light came flying past her right side, inches from her arm. Recoiling, she whirled around, pointing her own wand into the forest. ”Expecto Patronum!” she said, instinctively trying to see further into the pitch black forest.W[/b] ings moving, a milky white phoenix shot out of her wand, flying towards the trees before looping back to fly around Angelique. With the bright white light now illuminating the forest, Angelique saw another girl standing there. What was with all the midnight walks tonight? It seemed like everybody was out for a midnight stroll. Tucking that thought away for now, Angelique heard the other girl speak, which brought her back to the present. ”Ummm... yeah, I did. That’s what brought me over here in the first place.” she said, shrugging her shoulders. At least she now knew that she wasn’t going completely insane, and that somebody else had indeed seen the green flash.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/font]
