Clouds covered the sky in an ominous gesture. Surely any second rain would begin to pelt the windows and flood the grounds. Without the possibility of going outside, Cari was left to wander the halls with nothing to do. Why did everyone have to wait until today to do their work? Why were they even bothering to do their work? It’s not like it was hard. Sometimes she just didn’t understand why everyone else didn’t do like she did and do their homework during history of magic. It wasn’t like they would get caught by Professor Binns.
Heaving a sigh, Cari continued to walk around with no destination in mind. Being bored was not her cup of tea. Up ahead, she recognized a door. It was one of the many unused classrooms in the castle. Figuring that she could just sit and cast spells at whatever objects might be in the room. Cari opened the door and went in.
Set up like the typical classroom, there were desks for students as well as a large desk for the instructor. Vaguely, Cari wondered if having a bigger desk made the teachers feel superior. Her feet carried her to the desk where, after clearing off the dust, she sat down on top completely ignoring the chair. Aiming her wand at a piece of chalk, Cari began to use magic to draw on the board.
She was just finishing a picture of a dragon when the door to the classroom opened. Figuring that she had been caught and seeing no means for escape, Cari awaited what would happene when the person behind the door stepped through.

With the coming bad weather the library, much to Theodore's dismay, was rather crowded that day. Even with the librarian telling them all to hush up and get on with work Theodore found he was not comfortable with that many people around when he could avoid it. He packed away his book and went for a wander, not really sure where he wanted to go. he just wanted somewhere quiet and with little chance of interuption. He found himself strolling along one of the many corridores of the castle when he just picked a door at random and made his way over to it. He was sure that it was out of use as he could see through the window that there were no students in the seats. Unfortunatly the small pain of glass in the door did not give him a full view of the room and he couldnt see the professors table at the front.
It was quiet in this part of the castle, no gaggle of first years hanging around in the corridor, giggling over foolish matters. No gangs of upper years forced to gather inside away from the rain that was threatening to beat down on them. Theodore smiled a little at the peace and opened the door. It creaked slightly but so much in the old school did, he didn't see a problem in it. Once the door was fully open and he had stepped into the unused class room did he notice that there was another student in there. A Ravenclaw from the looks of it, and around his age too. He froze, not wanting to disturb her (or have to share the room when he had been looking for somewhere solitary) but not wanting to back out and flee. He stood frozen with indecision with what to do.

Upon seeing who had entered the room, Cari had to let out a sigh of relief. For some reason, the thought of an instructor finding her was much more unsettling than if a student found her. And apparently, this student unintentionally had. From the looks of him, he was a Slytherin (if the green and silver was anything to go by), and tilting her head to the side, Cari nodded. She was quite certain that he was in the same year as her. Suddenly she felt bad, she should be able to recognize if she had had a class with someone before. Then again, if the way this boy had frozen was any indication, he was not quite the company lover.
Realizing that her wand was still pointed at the board, Cari lowered it to rest by her side on the desk. “Hi. Umm…” She began but was unsure of what to say. What did one say to a fellow student who they barely (ok didn’t) know. “Some weather we’re having, huh?” Her hand came up to scratch the back of her head in a nervous gesture. Were she a Gryffindor, she would have been afraid but as a Ravenclaw, she was more neutral than most. In fact one of her best friends had been a Slytherin before he had moved. Now she just sat and watched, wondering what this boy would do.

Theodore was still rooted to the spot, not wanting to flee and seem weak, but not particularly wanting to stay. To his slight relief she seemed just as unsure of how to react as he felt. "Ummm... Hello." He replied, moving to the closest table and placing his book down. It didn't help. Now he didn't know what to do with his hands. He scratched his head as well the sat on the table, Fiddling with his hand. "Umm... yeah, bad weather." he said very uncomfortable. As finding something to do with his hands and a way to make him a little less uncomfortable he took a sip from his hip flask, holding back a grimace.

Cari watched as he sat down his book and took a drink from a flask at his hip. Taking the grimace as one of the burn of liquor going down, Cari suddenly she wished she had brought her own flask of liquor though, knowing her luck, she would probably get caught if she tried.
It took a moment of the rain pelting the window before Cari finally couldn't take the silence anymore. "Were you looking for somewhere to read?" She asked motioning toward the book he had set down. Due to the distance, she couldn't see just what the book was and even if she could the chances of her having read it was slim. Not that she didn't like books, she just didn't like educational books.

The rain had started to drum against the window a loud drumming noise. The silence was tense and awkward. He couldn't read his book because that would seem rude, but the silence was defening. When the Ravenclaw spoke it almost made him jump. He snapped his head up at her when she started then looked back down at his book. "Um... yeah, I was, b-but it's fine." He said, mentaly hitting himself for stuttering. He couldn't help it some times. "The Library was too crowded."

“Oh my Merlin! You were actually able to find it?” Cari asked. It was a joke around the Ravenclaw tower that Cari didn’t know where the library was, much less what it was used for. Truthfully though, Cari had actually gotten lost trying to find the library during her first year. The hours that followed were long and torturous and after that day, Cari had a sworn vendetta against the Hogwarts library. If Madam Pince ever found out about Operation Scrambled Eggs, Cari was done for.
Thinking about what she had just said, Cari wanted to hit herself. “Listen, I wasn’t trying to be sarcastic. It’s just, I’m used to everyone joking about me and the library. I guess for a moment I forgot you weren’t in on it. Or are you?” She raised a suspicious eyebrow at the Slytherin before her. Contrary to what most thought, Ravenclaws did gossip and spread rumors. Who knows how far the little joke had gotten.

Theodore looked at the Ravenclaw in suprise at her reaction to what he said. able to find it? Of course he was able to find it. He wasn't sure at first whether mocking him or what. He raised an eyebrownas she backtracked. He couldn't tell if she was only saying the extra bit as a cover up or if it were true. "No, I'm not in on it." He assured. He knew that Ravenclaw's enjoyed gossip, and he was sure that many people in his house would have known what she was talking about, but Theo was never one to listen to gossip.

He seemed genuine as he spoke. Cari was certain that he was in no way involved in the joke. “So…uh.” She started but stopped when she realized she didn’t know what to say. “I’m Carson but everyone calls me Cari.” Leaning forward, Cari put a hand to the side of her mouth and stage whispered, “I think my parents wanted me to be a boy.” Unable to keep a straight face, Cari laughed. The story of her birth almost made her laugh. Her parents, expecting twin boys, already had the first names of their children picked out. Imagine their surprise when the youngest of the twins was a girl. It took some quick thinking but Carson Elizear Hale became Carson Elizabeth Hale.
“So, what’s your name mysterious stranger?” Her head tilted to the side in curiosity, a stray curl falling to rest beside her left eye.

Theodore gave a quick smile while she laughed but wiped it of straight away. "Oh... um... McVann... Theodore." he introduced. He listened to the rain pelting the windows. He suppressed a sigh. Why had he even bothered leaving the library. It was just as awkward in here. He sighed. "umm... good dragon." he said uncomfortablly

Theodore McVann, huh? Oddly enough, Cari had never heard of him before. Usually she would have at least faintly recognized the name, but she was certain that she had never even heard it in passing.
Her eyes shot to the dragon after he mentioned it. It wasn't anything extravagant, just a random dragon. Of course, Cari had only been able to speculate on the general proportions of the dragon's body. It wasn't every day that one saw a live dragon, and Cari had been unlucky enough to have never seen one in person at all.
"Thanks. I think I'm going to name him Arrow or Betty. I think if I named him Betty, he would be a very angry fictional dragon thus making him a good guard. What do you think?" She looked back to Theodore for an answer.
